PROJECT PROPOSAL
I choose the theme of the name “the little mouse,” inspiration is derived from Degas Edgar’s ballet painting. To start with, I think this describes a social reality at that period, because behind these beautiful ballet dancers is the man in the suit, who control them is their sugar daddy, at that time, ballerinas really came from the bottom of the society. They could not get ahead even if they became dancers through continuous hard work. The only way was to serve the so-called members of the theater， and then they could have the opportunity to the stage. These girls are called “little mice”. Every stage play is a seemingly beautiful performance, in fact, behind it is the social moral malformation is the dark side. I want to call on girls to be in charge of their own destiny and have a rich life.
Since ballet is included in the theme and the period is the 18th century, I want to investigate the background of that time, and I plan to consult some books or go to the museum to see the characteristics of the period, hoping it inspires me. Besides, I have learned some ballet before, and I want to watch some movies or documentaries to feel about it and do some research.
I am moving on to the BA Fashion Textile: Knitting at London college of fashion. Because of this topic, I think some of the elements have lace, and bound pulling all of these can be performed using a weaving technique, suit the change of experiment and can do some profile, and combining the knitting fabric, and finally, I want to present can also is a kind of incomplete beauty, flowers can also on behalf of freedom at the same time, they can be combined into the knitting fabric samples. At the same time, I also want to try some knitting methods this time, such as using crochet and needle to knit, instead of just using weaving techniques to make fabric samples.
In this project, I will design a series of knit-based clothes for some young girls, which is also what I want to express in my theme, the purpose is to call on girls to be themselves, to break through the shackles that hold them. Because knitting needs to be made by hand, which is time-consuming and may be priced at a higher level, I think my market level is also intended to be niche designer clothing.
